About the Job

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a senior executive responsible for originating, developing, and delivering renewable energy projects from earlystage concept through planning consent, grid connection, and readiness for construction. 

The CDO will lead the company’s development pipeline including all hybrid projects, ensuring commercially viable projects are developed and delivered within Ireland’s energy, planning, and grid frameworks. 

The CDO will play a central role in delivering the companies growth strategy across all renewable technologies and in different phases of development. The CDO and will work closely with the CEO and the rest of the executive team in Lirion power aswell as key external stakeholders. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Overall project development in Ireland for wind, solar, storage & hybrid projects. 

  • Originate and develop the project pipeline, including hybridising of existing operational sites.  

  • Lead on all aspects of Development including Land, Planning, Grid and offtake for each of the projects. 

  • Lead on redevelopment of existing assets and acquired sites including life extensions and repowering opportunities.  

  • Lead Development M&A opportunities to grow the pipeline in Ireland including strategic targeting and execution of value adding Development opportunities.

  • Prepare projects for construction and delivery and oversee same. 

  • Management of key stakeholders including local communities, local authorities, EirGrid, ESB, planning consultants and technical consultants to ensure successful delivery of the pipeline. 

  • Work with Commercial team to develop Route to Market strategy for all the development assets in Ireland. 

  • Progress Greenfield Development strategy for Lirion including identifying potential partners for early-stage Development.   

The Candidate

  • Expert knowledge of renewable energy project development in Ireland with demonstrated experience of more than 10 years. Experience in the UK also beneficial.  

  • Excellent understanding of permitting and planning environment in Ireland and policy levers that are needed to enable hybrids. 

  • Expert knowledge of the Irish renewable energy market and in particular the planning processes and Irish Grid System. 

  • A demonstrated ability to influence both internal and external Stakeholders. 

  • Strong commercial acumen and drive to deliver commercially viable renewable energy projects within strict timeframes. Experience in construction also beneficial.  

  • High personal integrity and high ethical standards. 

  • Excellent communication skills in English.
